Surfing the Internet for Seniors

July 7th, 2010

This post compliments of Caroline Hepler

There seem to be unlimited possibilities on the internet and many are fun, practical and appropriate for senior citizens. Here are some websites to surf that you may find more than interesting.

One of these websites is Facebook. You sign in with some particulars like your name, address and other particulars. This opens up a wide world to you. You choose your “friends” who are often relatives. You can share up to the minute thoughts and news with them. Often relatives will put videos and pictures on your personal page (“the wall”) and you can keep up with them up to the minute.

There is a plethora of shopping on the Internet. You can even go shopping for miracle ear hearing aids online. You can always find hearing aid reviews to help you make your purchase. Another fun way to get your shopping fix is the auction site eBay. You can virtually find anything on here and it is a good place to find gifts for loved ones. Playing games on different websites is a wonderful offering too. Try www.pogo.com for word games, solitaire and other challenges for free.

Look up AARP online too. This is a great website that has all sorts of information tailored to seniors. You may want to venture into the world of online dating. All ages use these websites and be careful because sometimes the result is marriage!
