I love watching Nascar races. The competition is amazing between the 43 drivers pushing their cars to the limit to try and win the race. Of all the drivers in Nascar, my favorite is Robby Gordon. He’s had some up and down years in Nascar, but he is never boring and vanilla like some other drivers. Robby is always a threat to challenge for the win when the Nascar series goes to the road courses at Infineon and at Watkins Glen. The two road races a year are my favorite Nascar races to watch on free satellite tv near Seattle.
Robby Gordon is awesome because he has tremendous car control. He can drive a loose race car like no one else. He learned this ability by competing on the dirt in off-road races. He competed in and won the Score International championship 7 times. He has also won both the Baja 500 and grueling Baja 1000 and competes in the Dakar off-road race. The Dakar is considered the toughest automobile race in the world.
So he’s had success in both off-road and Nascar, but that is not all. Robby raced in sports cars and won his class in both the 24 Hours of Daytona and the 12 Hours of Sebring. His success in sports cars led to a ride in Indy cars where he won multiple races.
I’ve never met Robby, but from all accounts he is very fan accessible and spends time at his merchandise trailer every Nascar weekend mingling with fans and signing autographs. No one can drive and win races in multiple types of cars like Robby Gordon. I wish I could drive like that.
