Do you like gardening?

Do you like gardening? If not. Why don’t hire a gardener …… a robot. A class of undergraduates at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology made small, $3,000 robots that can water, harvest and pollinate cherry tomato plants. Isn’t that amazing? The robots sprinkle plants from a water pump. And these robots use their arms to get some ripe tomatoes. The experimented plants and robot are attached to a computer network. The plants, all the way through sensors in their soil, can tell the network when they need water or fertilizer. And these robots use a camera to record the plants’ fruit. The said robots are programmed with a basic growth model of the cherry tomato plants  which helps know when a tomato will be ripe. Would you like to have a robot gardener? Isn’t it remarkable how technology works?
