Hair is good for plants
Human hair is not only for fashion (wigs) but also good for plants. Recent research and study have shown that human hair makes a good fertilizer. Anyhow, a test has made by Vlatcho Zheljazkov and his colleagues at Mississippi State University. They made a scientific research human hair as fertilizer against commercial fertilizers. They evaluated the productivity of four plants such as, lettuce, wormwood, yellow poppy and feverfew, under four different treatments: non-composted hair cubes, a controlled-release fertilizer, a water-soluble fertilizer, and no treatment. The yellow poppy, though, saw higher yields for the hair treatment. Human hair takes time to degrade and release its nutrients. For this reason, hair shouldn’t be used as solitary fertilizer. I remember when I was a kid, every time I get a haircut, my dear mother would bury next to a banana tree so my hair would get thicker. It was a superstition. I thought it was weird.
